Global Natural Rubber output may rise 4.9%

Global rubber prices might drop as the production in the Association of Natural Rubber Producing Countries (ANRPC) region may rise 4.9% to 10.9 million tons for 2012-13 on the back of higher output in Malaysia amid sluggish demand in major consuming nations, especially India and China.

Earlier, the rubber production was estimated to around 10.42 million tons due to fall in output in Thailand and Malaysia for the first quarter in Calender year 2012. While, according to reports, the production is likely to move up in these countries boosting the global output.

Rubber production in Indonesia to move up by 3.26 million tons, Malaysia by 1 million tons and Vietnam by 915,000 tons.But presently due down in economic growth experienced in major rubber consuming nations lik China , India, US and Europe is pulling the prices down.

Meanwhile, the prices of the commodity is likely to pick up on rising demand from the emerging nations like West Asia, Brazil and Russia. [ News Source ]
