On the back of record agricultural production, India's farm export for Financial Year 2011-12 rose by 88 percent to Rs 82,000 cr, according to Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority.
Major commodities exported includes basmati, non-basmati rice, guar, buffalo meat and groundnut. Guar complex exports rose as the demand rose from the petroleum industry in US as it is used in shale gas explorations.
India's export earnings from processed food, which includes processed fruits and vegetables, meat and poultry products, etc., rose to Rs 38,950 cr in FY'12. The depreciation of India currency against dollar has also raised the revenue from exports.
Last year, according to APEDA, India's agri exports stood at Rs 43,626.88 cr in the 2010-11. India is expected to produce around 257 million tons of food grains for 2011-12. [ News Via ]
