Sensex, Nifty start on a cautious note

The BSE Sensex rose 0.1 per cent early on Monday led by gains in SBI, M&M and TCS. The 50-share Nifty was trading at 5,697, up 0.12 per cent. At 9:20 a.m., the 30-share BSE index was trading at 18,780.80, up 27 points or 0.15 per cent. SBI, M&M and TCS led the losers pack.

The BSE Capital Goods Index was trading 0.2 per cent higher, the BSE Consumer Durable Index declined 0.08 per cent and the BSE Metal Index was down 0.06 per cent while the BSE Power Index was trading 0.9 per cent higher.

The Nikkei stock opened down 0.4 per cent. Japan's Nikkei 225 index was trading 0.7 per cent lower at 9,041.17 and Hong Kong's Hang Seng index was trading lower at 20,543.12, down 0.9 per cent. Via
