Sugar futures recovered on NCDEX as speculators
covered their short positions. Improved demand in the spot market mainly
improved the prices. Demand for sugar from ice-cream and beverage
makers typically rises during the summer. However, ample supplies in the
physical markets limited the gains.
The contract
for April delivery was trading at Rs 2,925.00, up by 0.34% or Rs 10.00
from its previous closing of Rs 2,915.00. The open interest of the
contract stood at 3,590 lots.
The contract for May
delivery was trading at Rs 2,962.00, up by 0.10% or Rs 3.00 from its
previous closing of Rs 2,959.00. The open interest of the contract stood
at 47,390 lots on NCDEX.
