Chilli ends higher on rising demand, limited supply

Chilli prices ended higher by 0.85 per cent on Thursday at NCDEX as a result of a rise in the export demand for the commodity while supply remains limited.

At the NCDEX, chilli futures for March 2013 contract closed at Rs. 6,644 per quintal, up by 0.85 per cent, after opening at Rs. 6,620 against the previous closing price of Rs. 6,588.

It touched the intra-day high of Rs. 6,720 Sentiment improved further as a result of the restricted arrivals of the commodity in the market from the major producing belts Global production of chilli stands at about 20.00 lakh MT to 25.00 lakh MT per annum.  [Via]
